Earth Day 2011

Earth Day is an annual event that takes place all over the world, but New York City hosts one of the biggest Earth Day events ever.  According to EDNY: “Earth Day is more than a one-day event or annual environmental wake-up call. It is a catalyst for ongoing education, action and change. It simultaneously broadens the base of support and rekindles old commitments through highly participatory strategies.”
Earth Day NY was founded in 1989 and has grown to reach the masses on a larger platform.  EDNY unites community members, teachers, students, politicians, and business owners to educate them on how to improve the overall quality of life.  There will be many EDNY events held throughout the month of April, but the main EDNY event will take place on Friday, April 22, 2011 in Times Square.  During this grand celebration, there will be a Green car show, many special keynote speakers, and lots of green activities. If you would like to participate or have a hands-on experience, EDNY is looking for volunteers
